Denzil D. McKenzie is the managing director and founder of McKenzie and Associates, P.C. He is a graduate of Boston University School of Law and studied tax law in the Boston University Graduate Tax Program. Attorney McKenzie began his legal career as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He has over 40 years of experience practicing law in the areas of business litigation, probate administration, bankruptcy, tax appeals, and business law.

Attorney McKenzie is well recognized among practitioners involved in representing family-owned business and non-profit organizations throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He often serves as outside counsel to small and mid-sized corporations and non-profit organizations, including health and human service providers and churches.

Attorney McKenzie holds membership in numerous professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Associations, and the Massachusetts Probate and Family American Inn of Court. He recently served as a member and Treasurer of the Clients’ Security Board of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts and a member of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Client Protection. He is a Fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation. He recently completed his term as President of the Massachusetts Family and Probate American Inn of Court.

Attorney McKenzie is active on many community and volunteer organizations in Greater Boston. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Urban Ministerial Education at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, Vice President of the Executive Council of the Boston University School of Law Alumni Association. He is also an active member of Peoples Baptist Church, Boston, a 210 year-old congregation, where he serves as Legal Counsel and Vice Chair of the Renovation and the Business and Finance Committees.

In 2010, Attorney McKenzie was appointed by the Government of Jamaica as its Honorary Consul to Boston, an assignment that involves representing the interests of the Government and operating the Jamaican Consulate, which serves the over 125,000 Jamaicans residing in New England. He continues to serve in this position.

Attorney McKenzie has received many awards and citations, including the U.S. Small Business Administration (Region I); Minority Businessperson of the Year; runner-up for U.S. Department of Defense Minority Supplier of the Year; the National Council of Negro Women, Greater Boston Chapter, Liberating Vision Award for community service; and St. John’s Baptist Church’s Plumber Turner Award for his work as an adult Sunday School teacher. Boston Magazine has named Attorney McKenzie to its Massachusetts Super Lawyers List in 2003, 2004, and 2006. He was the featured attorney of the Massachusetts Family and Probate American Inn of Court for June and July, 2009.
